What to know before requesting pricing or placing an order.
Do you sell individual bags of salt?
National Salt is primarily a wholesale distributor. Most packaged products are sold by the full pallet, with a one-pallet minimum for pickup. Contact our office if you have a special request.
Can I mix different products on one delivery?
Yes. Qualifying packaged-product deliveries may be mixed and matched, but each product must be ordered in full-pallet quantities. The normal delivery minimum is six total pallets.
How do I request a quote?
Use our bagged product quote form for palletized products or our bulk salt quote form for loose salt delivered by the ton. You may also call us at 937-592-3333.
What information do you need to prepare my quote?
Please provide the product and bag size, quantity or number of pallets, pickup or delivery preference, complete delivery address and any unloading requirements. For bulk salt, we’ll also need the tonnage and preferred delivery method.
Why aren’t current prices listed on the website?
Our salt manufacturers’ price contracts do not all follow the same timeline, and freight rates can change. We prepare each quote using the current product and freight costs for the specific order, source and destination.
How long does delivery normally take?
Our typical delivery timeframe is 7–10 days. Seasonal demand, product availability, freight-partner schedules, manufacturer-direct shipments and severe weather may affect timing.

Where does National Salt deliver?
Our own semi serves customers within roughly 200 miles of Bellefontaine. Beyond that area, we coordinate nationwide shipping through our freight partners, either from our Bellefontaine warehouse or directly from the manufacturer.
What nationwide delivery options are available?
We offer two nationwide options for qualifying orders. A freight partner can pick up packaged products from our Bellefontaine warehouse or directly from the salt manufacturer and deliver directly to your business. The best option depends on the product, quantity, destination and available shipping point.
What are the packaged-product delivery minimums?
The normal minimum is one full pallet for customer pickup and six full pallets for delivery on our truck. Longer-distance shipments through our freight partners may require larger quantities depending on the product, destination and carrier.
How is packaged salt delivered and unloaded?
We deliver with a semi using either a flatbed trailer with a truck-mounted forklift or a van trailer. Tell us whether you have a dock or forklift and whether you need our forklift for unloading.
Can I pick up my order in Bellefontaine?
Yes. Please place and schedule your order before arriving so our warehouse team can have it ready. The warehouse is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM–3:30 PM.

What types of salt do you carry?
We offer water-softener salt, deicing products, pool salt, agricultural salt and food-grade salt. Available formats include bags, blocks, mini-bulk totes or super sacks and select loose bulk products. We also carry 5-gallon purified, distilled and spring water. Browse the complete product catalog.
Do you sell 5-gallon bottled water?
Yes. We carry purified drinking water, distilled water and spring water in 5-gallon bottles. Customer pickup has a one-rack minimum, and delivery has a four-rack minimum. Each rack holds 30 or 40 bottles depending on the rack type. Bottle and rack deposits apply. View bottled-water details.
How do I know which water-softener salt to choose?
The best choice depends on your equipment, water conditions and preferred salt form. Our Salt Comparison Guide explains pellets, cubes, tablets, crystals, blocks, potassium chloride and rust-removing formulas.
Do you supply salt for factories or industrial operations?
Yes. Depending on the application, storage and unloading equipment, an industrial customer may need palletized bags, a mini-bulk tote or super sack, or loose bulk salt delivered by the ton. Tell us how the salt will be used and approximately how much you need so we can help identify the best format. You can also review our Industries We Serve page.
Which products are available in bulk?
Our bulk offerings include select water-softener salts and deicing salts. We do not currently offer agricultural or food-grade salt in loose bulk quantities. Products and source locations are listed on the bulk quote form.
What is mini-bulk salt?
Mini-bulk products provide more salt than standard bags without requiring a loose bulk truckload. Current options include 1,520 lb Brine Bits, a 2,000 lb CEL Solar Super Sack and a 2,400 lb Dura-Cube Tote.
Is every product always available?
No. Manufacturer supply, seasonal demand and bulk allocations can affect availability. We will confirm availability when we prepare your quote or order.
Do you sell bulk deicing salt to new customers?
Bulk deicing availability changes by season and supplier allocation. During limited-supply seasons, we may prioritize existing customers or limit quantities. Please contact us for the current season’s availability.
Before we schedule
Payment & Accounts
Payment methods, processing fees and approved credit terms.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, ACH and credit cards. A 3% processing fee applies to credit-card transactions. The 2% COD discount cannot be used when paying by credit card.
Do you offer a COD discount on packaged products?
Packaged-product orders of six or more pallets receive a 2% COD discount when payment is made at pickup or delivery. The discount cannot be used when paying by credit card.
Do you offer credit terms?
Net 30 terms are available with approved credit only on packaged-product orders of six or more pallets. Packaged-product orders under six pallets are COD.
Do bulk or freight-partner shipments require prepayment?
Some bulk, warehouse-freight and manufacturer-direct shipments require prepayment before the order is released. Requirements vary by product, source and customer account, and will be clearly stated on your quote.
How do I become a new customer?
Every new customer must complete a New Customer Form so we can enter the account into our system. Tax-exempt customers must provide a completed tax-exemption form or may complete one at our office.
